Alleged baby snatcher Sameemah Jacobs now faces additional charges of fraud, forgery and human trafficking when the case is transferred to the regional court.
Baby Imaad was just nine days old when Jacobs allegedly abducted him from his mother at the mall in June 2025.
Jacobs, who is charged with kidnapping and defeating the ends of justice, allegedly pretended to be at least two other women in her alleged plot to kidnap the child.
Jacobs faces additional charges of human trafficking, forgery and fraud after initially being charged with kidnapping.
She was arrested when police found her with baby Imaad Sharmar at her Tafelsig home, two days after the child was kidnapped.
It's the State's case Jacobs pretended to be two other women linked to an organisation that assists young mothers before befriending the baby's mother Imaan Sharmar.
Jacobs also allegedly forged hospital documents to fake giving birth, before kidnapping the baby.
Action Society spokesperson Kaylynn Palm said the organisation welcomes the extra charges.
"This development is significant. Crimes involving infants are serious, and it is critical that charges fully reflect the gravity of the alleged conduct."
The additional charges against Jacobs are set to be finalised when the matter moves to the regional court in March.
