Suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Deputy Chief Julius Mkhanazi has started his testimony before Parliament’s ad hoc committee, confirming his links to Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.
Mkhwanazi also gave details about his employment history within the metro police.
He also confirmed that he was suspended previously in 2023 in connection with providing blue lights for one of Matlala’s companies, before he was reinstated three months later.
Mkhwanazi, who has already appeared before the Madlanga Commission last year, will also be questioned further during his testimony about his links to Matlala and how Matlala also gave him money.
"I was suspended on the 20th February 2023. I was suspended, and the letter said I stole blue lights and branded vehicles for Cat security, Vusi Matlala blue lights. My suspension was for three months. I stayed at home for three months."
