Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala makes first court appearance for pre-trial hearing

Alleged crime boss Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala will make his first court appearance on Thursday for pre-trial proceedings.
Matlala, his wife Tsakane, and three other suspects will appear on attempted murder charges linked to an alleged hit on his socialite ex-girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane.
He faces 24 other charges, 11 of which are also attempted murder.
Matlala has featured prominently in allegations of corruption at the Madlanga Commission.

The criminally fingered businessman and his wife, Tsakane, are accused of calling a hit on socialite and actress Tebogo Thobejane and using the services of alleged hitmen Tiego Mabusela and Musa Kekana.
Mabusela’s daughter, Nthabiseng Nzama, will also join them in the dock as an accused.
Matlala is also accused of calling a botched hit on businessman Joe Sibanyoni in 2022 and another on musician Seunkie Mokubung, popularly known as DJ Vetties.
This is Matlala’s first court appearance since Correctional Services moved him from the Kgosi Mampuru II Correctional Facility to the country’s tightest security prison, Ebongweni.
