The Democratic Alliance (DA)’s newly re-elected Gauteng North regional chairperson Crezane Bosch said she wants to grow the party’s supporter base in Tshwane’s township areas.

Bosch was elected for a second term on Saturday during the party’s regional conference in Pretoria.

The theme of the conference was to take Tshwane back following the party’s removal from government in 2023.

The DA said is targeting an outright majority in Tshwane for the upcoming local government elections.

Bosh said the party needs to attract new voters to achieve that.

“We have seen a lot of growth in the Mamelodi area, in the east of Mamelodi in particular, which was previously hostile to the DA. Mamelodi west was more open and friendly to the DA if you had to consider election results in ward 48 and 68 those places from 2016. We have also shown a lot of inroads in places like Soshanguve and Hammanskraal from the 2024 election results. We are election ready to focus on growing our support in these areas.”
