Joburg officials have revised what was initially believed to be the cause of a wall collapse at a student building in Doornfontein, near the Joburg CBD.

Earlier, it was believed that a transformer in a small utility building caught fire and exploded, injuring four people. However, City officials have now confirmed that the transformer is still intact.

Public Safety MMC Mgcini Tshwaku is on the scene. He says the undamaged transformer means a gas leak may have caused the explosion instead.
