A new witness is expected to take the stand at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday as it continues to zoom in on crime and corruption within the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality.
The metro has emerged as one of the major talking points from the commission, with tales of tender corruption, killings and other irregularities.
Since the Madlanga Commission began its work, two people connected to it have died, and both of them were also linked to Ekurhuleni, particularly its metropolitan police department (EMPD).

Before being killed, Witness D, whose real name was Marius van der Merwe, told the commission about a group of private security and EMPD officers who tortured a man to death and later dumped his body at a lake.
One of the people implicated was Wiandre Pretorius, who survived an assassination attempt last Thursday before taking his own life two days later.
EWN understands Wednesday’s witness will testify about investigations involving some "rogue" officers within the EMPD.
