President Cyril Ramaphosa has arrived in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, ahead of the African Union Summit.
Ramaphosa is leading a high-level South African delegation at the 39th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly of Heads of States and Government.
The two-day summit is sitting under the theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”
The AU has designated 2026 as the Year of Water and Sanitation, highlighting the urgent need for sustainable water access and improved sanitation across the continent.
South Africa will take part in the AU AIP Water Investment Summit; a side event aimed at connecting member states with investors and financiers to promote water infrastructure projects showcased last year in Cape Town.
During the summit, President Ramaphosa will address the AU Ad-Hoc High-Level Committee on South Sudan, which South Africa chairs.
The committee is overseeing the implementation of the peace agreement in South Sudan.
Ramaphosa will also hold bilateral talks with other African leaders on continental and mutual interests.
