New computerised learner's license tests are set to go live at the Milnerton and Eastridge testing centres next week.
MAYCO Member JP Smith says the installation of the computers will soon be complete at all 18 centres across Cape Town.
Smith says the digitised tests will provide instant, accurate test results for candidates. He adds that the tests are also hearing-impaired-friendly.
"It's available in all 11 languages, so you don't have to worry about interpretation. There's no room for marking errors. It's instant digital processing," said Smith.
Smith also says the new testing system will eliminate opportunities for cheating.
"There's also a more secure situation with fingerprint verification and the touch functionality. So, that just creates a more modern interface and also means it's harder for people to try and do the exam or the test on others' behalf, which we've also caught people doing," he added.
