The lawyers of Ekurhuleni Municipality’s suspended head of human resources (HR), Linda Gxasheka, are requesting a postponement of her testimony at the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Gxasheka was due to make her second appearance on Friday to respond to some of the allegations against her.

However, her legal representation, Emmah Magula, said that they've filed an application for postponement, citing the late disclosure of some documents from the commission’s evidence leaders.
“It is my humble request that the matter be rolled over to the 2nd of March because there are documents which were received during midnight and when we perused those documents, we found that we have to give thorough attention to them before Ms Gxasheka can proceed.”
Evidence leader Matthew Chaskalson is opposing the postponement application, saying the only new documents make up a total of 16 pages.
“We can’t just rollover onto Monday - we have another witness scheduled for Monday. We certainly would oppose this postponement. At best, from our side, if Gxasheka and her legal time need a bit more time now, we would ask they be given a little bit more time now, but we can’t waste a day.”
