Investigations are underway after four people died in a side-swipe collision between a minibus taxi and a light delivery vehicle on the R581 between Malelane and Kamhlushwa last night.

The victims include the taxi driver and three passengers, among them a two-year-old child. Several others were injured and taken to the nearby Shongwe Hospital.

Spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Moeti Mmusi, has advised motorists to follow road rules and drive cautiously, especially at night when visibility is reduced.

“Condolences to the bereaved families, while also wishing those who were injured a speedy recovery. We urge motorists to be always on high alert and cautious every time the visibility is affected due to darkness as well as wet weather conditions.”
