The Eastern Cape government said that it is continuing daily monitoring of the historic Botha Sigcau building in Mthatha, which was gutted by fire last month.
Provincial authorities said that they are working with the King Sabata Dalindyebo municipality to assess the structure.
According to officials firefighters are conducting regular external inspections to determine whether the building is safe.
The building, owned by the provincial public works and infrastructure department, housed offices from more than nine government departments.
