Teen tragically dies during school match in Sasolburg

The Free State Education Department has expressed shock and sadness following the death of a 15-year-old pupil from HTS Sasolburg School.

Grade 9 learner Nhlanipho Buthelezi collapsed during a school match at the DP de Villiers Stadium.

He was rushed to the hospital, where he was declared dead after suffering from severe breathing difficulties.

Department spokesperson Howard Ndaba said the teens' passing was a tragic reminder of the fragility of life.

"We are deeply shocked by the tragic loss of Nhlanipho Buthelezi, a young life cut short. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and the HTS Sasolburg community. We extend our condolences and support during this difficult time," he added.
