Beyond the podium finishes, the event remains a critical fixture for long-distance athletes. Stuart Mann, a member of the Two Oceans Marathon board, noted that the weekend serves as vital preparation for the upcoming Comrades Marathon.
"Obviously, it's a lovely route, it's a beautiful route... quite a few people running both races. There's actually a substantial amount of people running the half-marathon. Obviously, there's a lot of Comrades runners; this is a great training weekend."
