Over 30,000 runners are expected to take part in the iconic Two Oceans Marathon in Cape Town this weekend.

Known for its scenic route, the ultramarathon takes place on Saturday, 11 April, and the half-marathon on 12 April.

The course takes runners through Chapman's Peak, Constantia Neck, and other iconic landmarks, making it a true test of endurance and a thrilling experience for spectators.

Race director Stuart Mann explained that the split between the ultra and half marathons has created a more relaxed atmosphere while allowing more runners to participate.

“It's just fantastic for the local running scene," he said.

He added that this year's field is strong.

Defending women’s champion Gerda Steyn eyes a seventh win, while the men’s race is particularly competitive this year.

Defending champion Bennett Seloyi looks to retain his title, while Stephen Mukoka aims to regain the top spot

“I think it would be very difficult to find anyone who would bet against Gerda Steyn collecting another title tomorrow.”
