Three months after the establishment of the police’s Madlanga task team, at least three arrests have been made as investigations continue.
In January, President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the specialised team after receiving the first interim report from the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry.
Police maintain the arrests are not linked to evidence presented before the commission, but said more cases are being pursued.

The Madlanga Commission, which is probing criminality, political interference and corruption in the criminal justice system, prompted the creation of the task team to fast-track investigations.
It was on 26 January when Ramaphosa announced the intervention.
“The South African Police Service has established a task team to ensure that investigations arising from the Madlanga Commission are undertaken swiftly without interference.”
Two officials who appeared before the commission - suspended Ekurhuleni metro police deputy chief Julius Mkhwanazi and disgraced cop Fannie Nkosi - are expected to appear in court on Monday.
The task team arrested another senior official of the Ekurhuleni municipality over the weekend.
However, lawyers for one of the accused said the case against their client relates to a 2019 speeding matter, which he denies.
Police said the task team is continuing its work, with more arrests expected.
