JOHANNESBURG - The Mbombela High Court has dismissed with costs Mary Phadi's application to have the termination of her uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party membership reversed.
The former MK Party Mpumalanga leader took the organisation to court, arguing that her membership was terminated without due process.
Phadi's lawyers made oral representations to court on Tuesday, where their case was dismissed.
Mary Phadi has been with the uMkhonto weSizwe Party since its formal inception in December 2023.
She was the party’s first Mpumalanga leader, leading it to nine legislature seats, second only to the African National Congress (ANC).
Phadi's issues began after the elections, when the MK Party named former public protector, Busisiwe Mkhwebane, as the new Mpumalanga leader.
On 27 February this year, Phadi's MK Party membership was terminated for bringing the organisation into disrepute.
Reacting to Tuesday’s ruling, the MK Party says it was happy to finally cut all links with Phadi.
