More Gauteng residents look for backup water amid crisis

As load shedding pressured the demand for backup power sources, Gauteng’s water crisis has driven the demand for JoJo tanks.
Badenhorst says they have seen a considerable increase in tank purchases as well as the demand for installers.

JoJo tanks are water storage tanks that can be used to catch rainwater or store municipal or borehole water.
“There has an uptake in the demand in the commercial and industrial side, a combination of a municipal back up and rainwater harvesting… We also see a lot of estates and residences linking to their boreholes as an alternative source of water.”
