Two suspects wanted for a spate of armed robberies were killed by police in KwaMashu on Monday.
A team of Hawks officers from KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng had been following the suspects’ before eventually finding their hideout.
It was there that the shootout took place, killing the two suspects and wounding one police officer.
Mhlongo says they heard the suspects were planning to commit a cash in transit heist.

“Explosives that are normally used by the suspects to blow up the cash vans were found in that house.”

He says the operation is still in progress as they believe the suspects are part of a bigger group.
