JOHANNESBURG - The friends and family members of EWN associate politics editor, Tshidi Madia, celebrated her life at her final send-off on Thursday.

Many gathered at the San Salvador Catholic Church in Leondale, Germiston, where her funeral service was held.

Friends, family, colleagues and government officials filled the San Salvador Catholic Church to pay their last respects to the renowned journalist.

Guests were encouraged to wear bold, bright colours and many were seen in floral and bright-coloured clothing.

Her closest friends and family stood on the podium, sharing their best memories with those in attendance.

The overarching message was that Madia was loving, warm and compassionate.

Her friend, Lizeka Tandwa, said that the legacy of Madia must live on.

"What is funny about Tshidi is that she interviewed every president living or dead but she doesn't have a single award, no one can say she has an award for best story."

She added that in Madia’s short career, she achieved almost all she wanted and was deserving of a lifetime award.
