VW South Africa recalls 142 Polos, 8 Taigos over faulty passenger airbags

The National Consumer Commission (NCC) confirmed the issue involves a faulty gas generator, which may not protect passengers properly in a crash.

In serious cases, parts of the gas generator could break loose, posing a risk of serious or even fatal injury.

Owners of these vehicles are being urged to deactivate the front passenger airbag, avoid using the passenger seat, and take their vehicle to an approved dealer for inspection and possible repairs.

These checks are free of charge.
