[WATCH] R16K tequila ruins Anele’s holiday budget: ‘I drank an iPhone’

This past festive season will be one Anele Mdoda never forgets.

On a night out with friends, Anele ordered two bottles of champagne and a bottle of tequila.

No questions were asked, the waitress returned with the alcohol, and the group partied on.

Little did Anele know that the tequila in question would cost a little more than she anticipated. 

“This bill comes, it’s a fancy club so they bring this bill on iPads… I can see there is three things written on this bill… but why is this bill saying R20 000?”

As it turns out, the ask-no-questions/tell-no-lies tequila was a bottle of Don Julio 1942 Anejo Tequila, which retails for R5600 at Makro.

“I think if a bottle of anything costs R16 000 when we order it, you must tell me the price. I lost it with this waitress.”
