JOHANNESBURG - Free State police have confirmed that a case of common assault has been opened against African Congress for Transformation leader Ace Magashule and his two bodyguards.
 
This relates to footage of people dressed in ACT t-shirts who were seen on video assaulting a man in Virginia in the Lejweleputswa area.
 
It's understood the victim was beaten up after rejecting a t-shirt from the party after mistakenly throwing it at Magashule.
 
The ACT leader was on a campaign trail ahead of the 2024 general elections.
 
The police's Stephen Thakeng said: "We can confirm that a case of common assault has been registered in Meloding Police Station in the Free State, we have initiated a thorough investigation."
