22 January 2024 | 14:00JOHANNESBURG - Embattled economic commentator, Thabi Leoka, has resigned from her positions as a non-executive director and board member at Anglo American.
The mining company confirmed in a letter to shareholders on Monday afternoon that Leoka resigned with immediate effect to attend to questions regarding her academic qualifications and to attend to her health.
The economist recently came under fire after her PhD in Economic History came into question following claims that she obtained the doctorate qualification at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
While Leoka maintains that she's obtained a PhD, public records have only shown that she was awarded a master's degree in 2004.
