JOHANNESBURG- Democratic Alliance (DA) campaign manager Greg Krumbock said they’re expecting to be in a “strengthened position” after this past weekend’s voter registration.
South Africans got a second chance to ensure their names were on the voters’ roll ahead of the 2024 national elections, with local voting stations opening for registrations from 8 am until 5 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The figures are still being finalised, but early estimates put the total number of “registration transactions” over the weekend at more than 1 million.
Krumbrock said they’re “very pleased” with how the weekend went.
“We believe our groundwork efforts to encourage people to go and register, as well as our digital air war and our social media campaign has led to a pleasing result. We expect to be in a strengthened position when the IEC [Electoral Commission] publishes its latest roll whereupon full figures will be available to us.”
It’s important to note that despite the DA’s claims that this registration period has seen it outperform the governing African National Congress (ANC), the voters’ roll does not indicate who an individual intends to vote for.
