CAPE TOWN - DA Federal council chair Helen Zille has encouraged eligible voters to register this weekend as she woos voters in the Western Cape.

This weekend, eligible voters are being given an opportunity to register or update their existing details at more than 1,500 registration stations in the Western Cape.

Zile, DA campaign manager Greg Krumbock and spokesperson Solly Malatsi are set to address the media on Saturday on the party’s readiness for the weekend as well as it's expectations for the elections.

"The only way the ANC can stay in power is if opposition voters do not register to vote," said Zille.

"Registering to vote can prevent an ANC/EFF coalition of corruption in 2024. The DA is ready for this last, very important registration weekend and will have a presence across the country."

Meanwhile, the ANC Western Cape spokesperson Khalid Sayed said the party is confident ahead of the elections.

"There's a trend away from the DA in this province. The DA's time for governing is now coming to an end. We picked this up in the build up to voter registration. People are frustrated with the lack of service delivery."

Voting stations will be open for registration from 8am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
