CAPE TOWN - Landowners in the Caledon area near the Klein Swartberg mountain have been warned to be on high alert as a raging fire makes its way toward them.
Firefighters in the Overberg region were on Monday night bracing themselves to battle the blaze, which had been burning in inaccessible terrain high up in the mountain.
Overberg Municipality Fire and Rescue Services spokesperson Reinhard Geldenhuys said firefighters planned to do backburns to keep the blaze, which started at about midday, at bay.
"We have spoken to the municipality and the landowners to make preparations for when it does start coming down."
