NSFAS recently sent over R3-billion to institutions entrusting them to disburse February and March allowances directly to students.

Its acting board chairperson Lourens van Staden said this will ensure a smooth disbursement process.

"Following delays in the 2024 academic year largely due to registration delays,  the board took a decision to request institutions in the interim to operate as a channel to pay the February and March allowances. Communication was therefore sent to all universities notifying them of this decision."
