Pravin Gordhan retires from politics

The Public Enterprises Minister has announced he will retire after the upcoming elections.

Business Day reports that Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan has announced his retirement, to focus on his health and family.

The National Elections on 29 May will mark the end of the 74-year-old's long political career.

He has been involved with politics since the 1960s and has served in various positions in government.

Gordhan is an apartheid struggle veteran, but the last few years of his political career have been marked by controversies, most notably with Transnet and SAA.
