Two people, including child (11), shot dead amid North West protest, police confirm

JOHANNESBURG - Two people, including an 11-year-old child, have died during a community protest in the North West.
It's understood residents in Ipeleng clashed with construction workers on Tuesday morning.
Police said residents were unhappy about not being considered for employment in the construction of a sewer pipe in the area.
The police’s Sabata Mokgwabone said construction vehicle drivers, reportedly opened fire during the confrontation.
"During the confrontation, a shot was allegedly fired and in the process, an 11-year-old boy and a 33-year-old man were shot at. The minor died at the scene while the adult male succumbed to injuries at Schweizer-Reneke Hospital."
Mokgwabone said two other men were taken to hospital owing to serious injuries.
