Party secretary general Fikile Mbalula will be galvanising support in Empangeni on Saturday, and then Nkandla on Sunday.

DURBAN - The African National Congress (ANC) will be wooing voters in various parts of the country this weekend.

Party secretary general Fikile Mbalula is set to campaign in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday - an area that's become an Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) stronghold.

Mbalula's campaign will mainly take place in the uMhlathuze local municipality which the IFP clinched from the ANC in the 2021 local government elections.

The ANC has an uphill task on its hands if it wants to hold on to power power in the province.

This as the IFP has joined hands with the Democratic Alliance (DA) to topple the governing party in the province.

Meanwhile, the uMkhonto weSizwe party, led by former president Jacob Zuma also wants to take a bite out of the ANC’s power in this province.

Mbalula - who has been visiting the province often of late, is expected to visit taxi ranks, and a shopping mall and address community meetings on Saturday.
