JOHANNESBURG - Political analysts don’t believe there’s any indication that the Constitutional Court’s decision will spark public outcry.

On Monday, the apex court overturned the Electoral Court’s ruling on Jacob Zuma’s candidacy.

This means he’s no longer eligible to run for a seat in the National Assembly at next week’s elections.

Political analyst Levy Ndou said previous criticism of the judiciary was misplaced.

“He has been in many positions because of the Constitution, so if there’s anything else that would happen that would not favour him and he starts to talk bad about the Constitution, then it creates unnecessary confusion.”

Political analyst Dirk Kotze says Zuma’s next move is anyone’s guess.

“I think we still have to see exactly how it’s going to play out but at this stage, the party doesn’t present itself as very angry or as if this decision is completely unacceptable to them.”
