JOHANNESBURG – The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party claims the First Rand Group has a personal vendetta against it.
This follows an internal security threat analysis of possible nationwide violence by supporters of Jacob Zuma’s MK Party during and after elections.
The memo, leaked to Eyewitness News, was compiled on Monday, and circulated internally to various operating entities within the First Rand Group.

As a result, First Rand issued an internal security notice, informing staff of possible nationwide protests by MK Party members – including the possibility of civil unrest.
First Rand confirmed the legitimacy of the report with Eyewitness News.
But MK Party spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndlela, slammed the report, claiming it wreaks of political influence.
“We know that FNB, let’s not forget, is the same institution that closed president Zuma’s bank account.”
The report identifies seven of the nine provinces as hotspot areas, with KwaZulu-Natal leading the pack for the province where possible protests and unrest are likely to erupt.
Ndela, however, says the party has no reason to incite violence, having got everything they wanted in that they are contesting the elections and Zuma’s face will be on the ballot.
