KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) top cop Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said that he’s confident that there’s enough evidence to get suspended Deputy National Commissioner Shadrack Sibiya arrested for allegedly colluding with the criminal underworld.
He told the ad hoc committee investigating allegations of corruption and political influence in the criminal justice system that he’s satisfied that he has enough evidence to ensure Sibiya’s arrest.
Mkhwanazi, the committee’s last witness, concluded his evidence on Wednesday night.
He also doubled down on his allegations that the police minister on special leave, Senzo Mchunu, was captured by those opposed to the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).

Mkhwanazi, during his evidence in 2025, accused Sibiya of having links to the criminal underworld kingpins like Vusimuzi "Cat" Matlala.
But Sibiya denied the claims, saying they were designed to prevent him from becoming the next police commissioner.
On Wednesday night, committee member Dianne Kohler Barnard asked Mkhwanazi about the evidence against Sibiya.
“Are you satisfied that you have sufficient evidence against Shadrack Sibiya to have him arrested?”
Mkhwanazi said based on the case he opened against Sibiya in KZN, he’s confident that the net is closing in on Sibiya.
“From the case I opened in KZN, I’m confident of that and from what I gather from the team in Gauteng, there’s quite good information that they have already.”
On Mchunu’s directive to disband the PKTT, he called the decision illegal and accused him of defeating the ends of justice.
