JOHANNESBURG - The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has called on its Limpopo members not to rise to provocation from the African National Congress (ANC), after a nine-year-old girl was hit in the head by a stray bullet during a fight between the two parties.
A gun went off during a fight between EFF and ANC members at Juju Valley in Seshego last Sunday.
The two parties had arrived at the settlement to campaign during a community soccer tournament.
The juju valley settlement is named after EFF leader, Julius Malema.
Many of the corrugated-iron houses at the settlement have a picture of the EFF’s leader plastered on their doors.
Malema said while the settlement overwhelmingly supports the EFF, other parties should not be obstructed from campaigning for votes.
“That we have addressed with our structures, with the community, that we must at all costs act with restraint even in the eyes of provocation, we must restrain ourselves.”
Meanwhile, the ANC in Limpopo urged police to get to the bottom of the matter.
