ANC and MK Party posters dominate the street poles in Thwala section, Katlehong.
The ANC won Ekurhuleni’s ward 50 by 55% in the last local government elections.
MK Party regional member, Vukile Nkabinde, said that the party was making inroads in the area.
He said this caused tension between ANC and MK members in the area, which ultimately resulted in the deaths of his two friends Sunday night.
"Sadly, in an actual fact, last Tuesday in our meeting as the MK Party, we actually had our cadres that have had death threats and sadly on Sunday, they had to actually witness that."
The ANC has not been reached for comment yet.
