KIMBERLEY - In the Northern Cape, the four biggest opposition parties in the province have predicted that by Thursday afternoon, they may be faced with a hung parliament.
As it stands now, the African National Congress (ANC) has 112,000 votes, while the rest of the parties have a combined 111,000 votes.
Democratic Alliance (DA) chairperson, Harold McGluwa, and Patriotic Alliance premier candidate, Sherifa Ferris, agreed that if their predictions were correct and the ANC got below 50%, that the remaining parties could agree to work together.
Ferris said it might be difficult, but added that it was not impossible.
But ANC provincial secretary, Deshi Ngxanga, disagreed with the opposition parties that the ANC campaign was not effective enough, although he did admit that they lost many votes in the Namakwa-region.
He was, however, confident that outstanding votes in the John Toalo Gaetsewe and Francis Baard regions would give the party the 60% majority they wanted.
