JOHANNESBURG - After being exonerated in an internal probe, corruption-accused Crime Intelligence boss, Dumisani Khumalo, said he is ready to go back to work.

Khumalo, along with three other officers, appeared at the Pretoria Magistrates Court on Friday for oral arguments in his bid to have his bail conditions relaxed.

Khumalo currently faces charges of corruption and fraud for allegedly colluding to hire an unqualified officer to a senior position within crime intelligence.

Part of Khumalo’s bail conditions is that he is prohibited from entering any South African Police Service (SAPS) intelligence office and interacting with any of the State’s witnesses.

On Friday, Khumalo told the court that he was “exonerated” of any wrongdoing by an internal SAPS probe.

In an affidavit read into the record by his lawyer, Abre Loubser, Khumalo said the bail conditions are preventing him from executing his duties.

“It is of national importance that I be allowed to return to the office. The (bail) conditions infringe on my constitutional rights.”

The matter will return to court on 8 September 2025, where the state will make its opposing oral arguments.
