CAPE TOWN - A 23-year-old man has been arrested in Hanover Park for the possession of a prohibited firearm, and the illegal possession of ammunition and drugs.
He was nabbed during a joint operation by metro police and law enforcement officers on Monday night.
At around 11 pm, the officers spotted a group of people standing along the side of the road.
One of them dropped several items on the ground as the officers approached.
The metro police's Ruth Solomons said: "It turned out to be a 9mm pistol with its serial number filled off, loaded with five live rounds of ammunition, and a bag containing 30 units of unga. Officers found nine more rounds of ammunition on the 23-year-old."
