The most expensive number plate in SA could cost you over R100k

Personalised number plates are a cool and legal way to make your otherwise common car unique to you.
People can apply to have any number and alphabet combinations that does not exceed seven character (excluding the provincial mark).
You can basically do anything, provided it is available and not offensive.
This naturally comes with a fee, depending on the number of characters.
But there are some people who are after exclusivity, which is why the most expensive number plate in South Africa currently goes for a hefty R113 619, not including licence and registration fees.
According to Plates SA, the identifier in question contains a single character for a car residing in the Western Cape - ‘1 – WP’ or ‘A – WP’
This shouldn’t come as a surprise as back in 2016 several single character Gauteng plates ranging from ‘1 – GP’ to ‘8 – GP’ sold for a whopping R1.89 million, per Wheels24.
