Ramaphosa hails GNU, commits to working with all parties

JOHANNESBURG - President Cyril Ramaphosa has committed to working with all parties to ensure a better South Africa during the 7th administration.

He made the remarks shortly after being re-elected for his second term as president.

In a vote during the first sitting of the National Assembly, Ramaphosa was elected with 283 votes against Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema, who received 44 votes.

Ramaphosa secured the victory through a partnership with parties, including the Democratic Alliance (DA) and Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP).

He said that the results of the recent elections are a reflection of South Africans who want parties to put their differences aside.

"The people of South Africa expect their leaders to work together to meet their needs. They expect the parties for which they voted to find common ground," Ramaphosa said.
