Cape Town gets first-ever amphibious duck tour, launching 31 July!
Who's going?!
John Maytham speaks to the Waterfront Duck Company’s founder and co-owner, Keith Lindsay.
Cape Town is getting it's first Duck Tour!
What's a duck tour?
They are tours that take place on purpose-built amphibious tour buses and surplus amphibious vehicles, like DUKWs and LARC-Vs.
They can be a great attraction for tourists and locals and the first of its kind is coming to Cape Town on 31 July 2024.
It's South Africa’s first amphibious bus that will take people on tours of both Cape Town’s CBD and the V&A Marina and Victoria Basin.
Lindsay says it took 16 years to get his administrative and legal 'ducks in a row' to make this idea a reality.
Tours will last about an hour, a third of it will take place on land and two-thirds of the tour will happen on water with a live tour guide providing some history about the passing views around the City's CBD, Bo-Kaap, De Waterkant, Waterfront, V&A Marina, under the Bascule Bridge and other areas around the harbour wall, adds Lindsay.
Find the Duck Tour Company at the V&A Waterfront.
The duck tour's costs are:
- R395 for adults
- R295 for kids 12 and under
- R95 for kids under three years old
"We think it's going to be super interesting and the experience is going to be an attraction for locals and tourists."
- Keith Lindsay, Founder - Waterfront Duck Company
