CAPE TOWN - Another co-accused on trial in the mammoth trial against alleged underworld gang boss, Nafiz Modack, has denied any wrongdoing linked to the charges he faces.

A financial audit by the Hawks also shows Poole received various payments from Empire Investment Cars, a company allegedly used by Modack to launder money for crime.

Poole's attorney, Nazeer Parkar, told the court his client was employed by a security company to be Modack's personal bodyguard.

When questioned about why Poole received payments from Empire Investment Cars instead of the company he worked for, Parkar told the court Poole was not concerned about where the money came from.

Parkar also told the court Poole was aware that the owner of the security company he worked for was an associate of Modack's, which was why he didn't question getting paid via Empire Investment Cars.

The trial continues on Wednesday.
