JOHANNESBURG - A new motion of no confidence against Tshwane mayor, Cilliers Brink has been set down for a vote on the 26 September.
The motion has been brought forward by the African National Congress (ANC), who say service delivery in the capital city has deteriorated in Brink's 18 months in charge.
Last week, the party withdrew a similar motion against Brink after the mayor challenged it in court, arguing it was unlawfully rushed through council.
For the ANC in Tshwane, it will be hoping that the third time's a charm.
This is the third motion the party has filed against Brink in the past three months.
The ANC abandoned the first one after they failed to get the required votes needed to pass, and it was forced to withdraw the second one after Brink challenged it in court.
However, this time around, the party said it is confident it will remove Brink from the mayorship having got the support of ActionSA.
Meanwhile, ActionSA's national leadership is set to meet next week to discuss whether to stick with the Democratic Alliance-led coalition government in Tshwane or get into bed with the ANC and Economic Freedom Fighters.
