JOHANNESBURG - Attorneys representing over a thousand victims of the deadly listeriosis outbreak have called on Tiger Brands to compensate those whose lives were affected by the outbreak after consuming their products.
The lawyers say additional evidence has emerged showing that the manufacturing giant was responsible for the outbreak.
This month marks six-years since the health department declared the end of the outbreak.
Over 200 people died during the outbreak in 2017 and a Tiger Brand’s factory in Polokwane was identified as the main source.
In a briefing on Monday the lawyers accused Tiger Brands of reckless conduct, by continuing to manufacture and produce contaminated polony.
