Death toll in Lusikisiki mass shooting rises to 18

CAPE TOWN - The death toll in the Lusikisiki mass murder has risen to 18.
Police confirmed that the victim, who was hospitalised in critical condition after Saturday’s attack, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
The attacks took place during the early hours of Saturday morning, in two separate households.
In the first incident, 13 people were murdered in one house - and another four were killed in the second home, while the eighteenth victim was rushed to hospital.
It's understood the relatives were preparing for a ceremony to mark the end of their year-long mourning period after the deaths of a mother and daughter

Police said investigations into the mass murder were underway.
According to police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, progress had been made to bring perpetrators to book.
"It's just a matter of time before we crack the case. So we have full faith and confidence that the team that is on the ground is capable. We have got the right expertise to ensure that we find and apprehend those that are behind these particular killings."
