Is it gross to keep your worn pyjamas under your pillow during the day?

Well-known journo Rebecca Davis has a theory that there's a big difference between English and Afrikaans people when it comes to their PJ-stashing habits.

Where do you stash your pyjamas in the morning when you get up and change?

And do Afrikaans and English people approach the placing of their sleepwear differently?

Daily Maverick journo Rebecca Davis finds this issue of such concern that she delved deeper with a 'focus group'.

Davis tells John Maytham that the question arose when her Afrikaans partner expressed 'absolute disgust' at her practice of taking off her PJs in the morning and stashing them under her pillow till the next bedtime.

"I fact-checked wider among Afrikaans people who all responded in the same way. They said they found it bizarre, unhygienic, etc: the idea that you'd leave your pyjamas lying under your pillow rather than put them in a drawer or a cupboard and then retrieve them later that night."
"One of my focus group went so far as to say 'putting your pyjamas under your pillow seems as bizarre to me as putting a teaspoon in a shoe'.'"
"But to me, the level of effort required to put them away, is absolutely insane!"

A few of the listeners who responded to this burning question blew the journo's  theory right out of the water, though.

Afrikaans-speaking Louis said, 'pyjamas gaan direk onder my kopkussing (pillow)'.

Another Afrikaans listener backed Davis up, saying that yes, his PJs are kept in a cupboard between sleeps.

Maytham promises to keep checking the views that are sent in, so do reply yourself, not forgetting to say whether you are Afrikaans or English.
