The testimony relates to a statement Modack made to police in 2018 — saying he was contacted by a middleman to develop a corrupt relationship with Vearey and slain top cop Charl Kinnear.

Nafiz Modack alleges a middleman, Mohammed Hanware, helped him form a corrupt relationship with Vearey and Kinnear for the return of firearms confiscated from his home in 2017.
Modack said he agreed to bribe Vearey and Kinnear because he wanted to prove they were corrupt.
Financial records show Modack paid R150 to Hanware, but the money never got to Veary or Kinnear.
Vearey on Tuesday denied being enticed by Hanware or being on his payroll.
The trial continues.
