The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) has recently declassified their report on his murder.

Ipid also hosted a media briefing on the document.

The report names several officers who were aware of the threat to his life but did not act.

This could revive nine cases of culpable homicide brought forward by Kinnear’s widow in 2022.

Based on the report, Nicolette says her husband’s assassination could have been prevented if the people implicated in the report had done their duties.

“They sat back and watched a crime being committed.”

Nicolette says she is appalled that the family was not informed that the report was being declassified or that there was a media briefing.

“I am upset about the disrespect that we were treated with.”
- Nicolette Kinnear

She adds that classifying the document prevented people from being prosecuted, and she believes this was intentional.

Kinnear says she will continue to fight for justice for her husband, so others do not have to go through what her family has experienced.
