JOHANNESBURG - The Border Management Authority (BMA) and the South African Revenue Service (SARS) are monitoring the Lebombo border and urging travelers to remain cautious as cargo movement resumes.
Cargo operations resumed after Mozambican authorities restored systems at the border.
South Africa closed the border post on Thursday when violence flared up in Mozambique over the recent election outcome.
The protests led to a significant backlog of goods waiting to cross.

BMA Commissioner Michael Masiapato said teams were focused on clearing the backlog.
"The port is now open for cargo movement, after the Mozambican authorities managed to address challenges with their systems to facilitate processing through the Ressano Garcia port of entry into Mozambique," said BMA spokesperson Mmemme Mogotsi.
Mogotsi urged travellers to stay updated on any further changes at the border.
