MK Party sets sights on winning a number of KZN municipalities at 2026 local government polls

DURBAN - The uMkhonto we Sizwe (MK) Party says it's targeting a number of municipalities in KwaZulu-Natal ahead of the 2026 local government polls.
On Wednesday afternoon, the party briefed journalists in Durban about its upcoming one-year anniversary celebration to be held at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in December.
MK Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu said the party was confident it would win a number of municipalities in KZN.

"The only municipality where we were not number one is Mthonjaneni in King Cetshwayo, Big Five Hlabisa in Umkhanyakude, that side of Hluhluwe where the IFP president comes from and Ulundi."
He said their focus would be in areas where they performed well at the May general polls.
"But in the rest of the municipalities, uMkhonto we Sizwe was number one and then in Greater Kokstad and Mzimkulu as well, the ANC was number one and those are the only two where the ANC was number one in the province."
